The ZWStash, or Zero Waste Stash bag, is a versatile, unlined tote bag with an over-the-shoulder length strap and many pockets. The slender pocket proportions make the bag ideal for housing a knitting project and needles, a sketchbook and pens/pencils, a meal and utensils, or many other fun combinations!
The bag comes in three sizes and styles; Small, Medium and Large. Each bag is constructed from a single rectangular piece of fabric without producing any scraps or waste in the process.

The pattern contains cutting layouts with all the dimensions you need to make your own ZWWave but if you’d like to get a head start on knowing yardage/meterage, here are the dimensions of each size’s rectangle:
-Small: 12.5”x37” (31.5x94cm)
-Medium: 15.75”x42” (39.5x107cm)
-Large: 35”x28.25” (89x72cm)
Recommended Fabric
This pattern is best suited for medium-to-heavy weight woven fabrics at around 8-10oz/yard (270-340 g/m2). Cotton canvas or a similar fabric e.g. waxed canvas, oilskin, twill, half panama, etc. work well. Please keep in mind that heavier fabrics will give the bag more structure but will add a bit of bulk at some of the seams.
Difficulty Level
The pattern is suitable for Confident Beginners and up. The construction of the bag is straightforward and requires sewing straight lines and finishing seams. Small sewing tolerances are required for the slender straps.
